Excellent Atlantic Summary of the Child Punching Frenzy

I don’t agree with every word (for example, the comment about Blackout days) but this is an outstanding summary from The Atlantic.

Here is my summary. In the Jim Crow South, a black man on a sidewalk was expected to step aside when a white man approached. A black man who did not would be punished. To the media, and much of America, Sandman's offense was to not step aside.

  1. That was my specific criticism of Flanagan's essay, too, the 'black-out days' and the 'leering'. Since CF is a paid up member of the guild, they'll just ignore that article (although doubtless someone somewhere is keeping a list of people who need to be punished for their transgressions against Righteousness when the Revolution attains its glorious victory).
